Does February 2011 Matter? – The Horrible Show 030211

by on March 2, 2011 at 11:24am

The Horrible ShowWelcome to March, let’s look back at February. Justin, Cole, Ethan, and Gifford scan the headlines and defend girl gamers in their own way, look forward to Gears 3, love on Telltale, read wonderful stories from the ESRB, and learn about hedonism. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow

February has officially taken care of business, but did any of it matter? We take our monthly look back at the headlines to see what may stick, but not before our Threesomes of the Week attack. Cole starts the month off right with a wrestling reference right out of the gate, we may have to give him a monthly limit. Our On the Spot question asks the fair question of what the hell is actually going on in the We Dare trailer (link below). The headlines discussion starts off a bit heavy with the ugly side of online gaming and censorship, but Batman and Telltale come in to lighten the mood. We announce the first Horrible All Nighter Xbox Live gaming night for Thursday March 10th at 8pm EST starring Gears of War, too. More details on the site soon. After a few Sony venting sessions, the cast settles in for Gifford’s reading of Duke Nukem Forever’s ESRB details. Where for art thou, fellatio?

  1. really enjoyed your mention of FUOS on the podcast. I agree that our site does make the gaming community look bad, and whenever we(members of FUOS) get interviewed, I try to stress that while there are and will always be jerks playing, online multiplayer is such an amazing experience. <3

  2. I actually didn’t expect the conversation to take that interesting turn, but we’re always concerned/defensive about the perception of gamers. We do agree that your site is serving the overall good by calling out these jerks and promoting online gaming, not to mention it’s nice to see your sense of humor on the issue. We just want a way to silence them so more people can enjoy online games like we all do.

  3. Glad you enjoyed our discussion – we’re continuing it this evening and thanks for listening! While I guess you could look at your site as making the gaming community “look bad,” I think it also was a great help in getting us, as (hopefully) non-jerk online gamers to think about how tolerating that kind of behavior doesn’t do anything but keep gaming’s image as “fat pale pimply 17 year old boy who talks a lot of smack.” Also – my girlfriend just told me that she thinks your site is awesome and it is making her giggle.

  4. @JDevL we’re all pretty witty and lighthearted, and enjoy writing posts making fun of these miscreants.

@GiffTor yaaaaaay glad your gf enjoys it!

I do think gamers are evolving; I don’t get trashed NEARLY as much as I used to(for being a girl anyway), and have made some lifelong friends on xbl

  5. That’s good to hear that it’s getting better, but hopefully it’s still easy to find a few gems for your site. We tend to live in our party chat bubble and find venturing out alone is scary.

Thanks for the linkback, we’ll send some more link love your way when we post the new episode this week!

  6. One of the stress associated with particular tasks.
Here unlicensed contractors are some questions you might need foundation adjustments.

Golf instruction via video chat with other unlicensed contractors
people. Perhaps you need to provide all the proper forums to get it done right and best left not given the project.
