E3 11: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Steps up to the Plate
Until this week I had sort of dismissed 38 Studios and Big Huge Games new IP: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Admittedly, I haven’t been a huge fan of the western developed fantasy RPG. I played about an hour of the first Dragon Age and quickly decided it wasn’t for me. However, after watching the trailer above I started to get that itch. We often talk about how some of us buy games to fill an empty genre slot we have in our game catalogs. Right now I don’t have a fantasy RPG in my collection that will scratch that itch.
Justin L. described it best when he said that Reckoning looks like the game Fable should have been and I couldn’t agree with him more. I love the fact that it is going to be an action RPG where you can actually juggle enemies if you chain your attacks correctly. Layton Shumway over at Bitmob, describes Reckoning as “a perfect balance between the hardcore, do-anything game world of Oblivion and the high-tempo action of something like Kingdom Hearts.” If that doesn’t whet your appetite at all, than you probably aren’t interested in any kind of RPG.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be hitting stores sometime in early 2012.
