Shadows of the Damned Confirms that Bird Demons are Pendejos
Shadows of the Damned is stroking the right demon hunting chords with me lately. The hero, Garcia Hotspur (seen above), has a juvenile sense of humor along, plenty of attitude, and a shape shifting gun with a personality; he is shaping up to be my kind of protagonist. Grasshopper Manufacture is developing this survival horror game with the similar action styling of the recent Resident Evil games. Fitting since RE’s creator is at the helm of Damned, but he has teamed up with Suda51 which is sure to make things a bit crazy. If you have played any of Suda51′s games (Killer 7 and No More Heroes to name a couple), you know to expect the unpredictable, the weird, but also plenty of fun.

Johnson, I get it.
Not to downplay the uniqueness of Suda’s ideas, but the more I see of Damned, the more it feels like a Robert Rodriguez movie made into a game. That is something that gets the plenty-of-nonsense action fan in me quite excited. As long as the game maintains a level of self-awareness, it should quite entertaining. Well, as entertaining as a game with a talking gun named Johnson can be, anyway; your mileage may vary.
Shadows of the Damned is coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 from Grasshopper Manufacture and EA on June 21st.
