Meanwhile… What Do You Mean I’m Not In First Place?
Meanwhile… we’ve actually been playing games. Each week we recap our recent gaming experiences and tell you what we’re looking forward to, so you can use your time more wisely than we have. Which came first, the competition or the game? With so many new affordable multiplayer games available, we are on the verge of a fight breaking out amongst The Cursed at any given moment. The only question is, which battlefield will we use? (Battlefield isn’t a bad idea actually)

Come here often?

I’ve learned something from this Summer of Arcade, that I’m way too fast at adopting downloadable games in comparison to the friends that I compete with on leaderboards. It happened a while ago with Trials HD and now it’s Shadow Complex, where I was the only one playing the game at first and I set the bar for leaderboard scores. I come back a year later and I’m in like 8th place. I’m going to fix that on Shadow Complex while I pick up the remaining achievements. Otherwise I’m still waiting for a few people to pick up Castlevania: Harmony of Despair or Monday Night Combat later in the week as I’m anxious for some new co-op experiences. You can expect me to impulse buy Madden NFL 11 solely for the addition of Gus Johnson as soon as I see it in stores.

I’m really liking Assassin’s Creed II, so much so that every other game has taken a backseat. I’m starting to really look forward to AC: Brotherhood when it comes out later this year. The Collector’s Edition looks pretty cool but I don’t really care that much about swag. I know a lot of my friends will be getting Madden NFL 11 this week and I’ll try to resist that temptation but I’m just not in to that franchise anymore. I know they’ve made changes but it still feels the same to me.

Osmos!

If you read my YGGIA article on the iPhone you know I’m pretty enamored with that thing at the moment. Aaaand that’s what I’ve been playing. I picked up Osmos and played the hell out of that over the weekend. I definitely got the 3 bucks worth out of that game. It reminds me a little bit about the beginning stage of Spore, except that it’s actually fun. I also picked up Trenches for a buck and it seems to be well worth the price of admission, too. This coming week will not be a gaming week for me. If I do play anything it will be some iPhone quickies.

It’s been a busy week, so I haven’t played as much as I normally would. I actually went the non digital route and kicked my wife’s ass in a bit of Monopoly. I poked through my Steam list a bit, and actually played Dawn of War: Dark Crusade for a bit. Still a stellar game and while Dawn of War 2 is great, I miss the original’s base buidling and gigantic armies. The single player portion of StarCraft II has gotten more of my focus and I’m trying to determine which game between Red Faction 2 and Just Cause 2 I will be using to up my Steam score and bring me back to my Fallout 3 days of being an achievement whore.

I’m currently trying to decide if I’m going to buy Castlevania this week and give it a shot. If i don’t I’ll probably get a little Red Dead Redemption time in, but might also bust out some Guitar Hero: Metallica and brush the dust off my Ion Kit.

I just got moved into my new place, so I will be busting out the Xbox again for another round of demo playing. Things are looking up again in the financial department, so I’m hoping to purchase some new games before too long. Plants vs Zombies for XBLA is one of those that I’m pretty excited about right now. In reaction to some of the details that have been bouncing around recently I’ll be going back to my iPhone to play some PvZ.

My jihad on the LEGO games was temporarily derailed by a little program by the name of Starcraft II. However, since I finally finished up the campaign tonight, and have next to no interest in multiplayer beyond the occasional scrum w/ my friends, I plan on returning to my regularly-scheduled offensive on those adorable, yellow-skinned blockfolk.

What am I playing? That’s actually a good question. I don’t have a game to focus on this week. I guess this may be another week to pull something out of the back catalog and tackle a game that I missed along the way. Maybe BioShock? My roommate is playing Mass Effect 2 currently which also makes me want to go back and fine tune my character a little bit, especially the ending. So it’s a week of limitless possibilities, we’ll see what comes up.
What are you playing this week?
