REPLY TO ALL: I Need New Gamer Friends

We can’t be informed on every video game purchase. Lucky for us our gaming friends are very opinionated. Unfortuantely, they aren’t all that reliable. What has been a game purchase that your friends have convinced you is awesome but either a: sucks or b: they stopped playing the second you bought it? Want in on the weekly conversation? Every Wednesday we pose a question on Twitter and Facebook. You can answer from Wednesdays through Mondays on Twitter with the hashtag = [...]

The Horrible Show 11-17-10: What We’re Playing November 2010

There have been a lot of new releases this month, time to settle in and discuss what Justin, Cole, Ethan, and Christina have been playing. We dig into Black Ops, Dance Central, AC Brotherhood, Rock Band 3 without trying to be that guy. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow The Cursed podcast crew proves how agile they are when a topic schedule change has them refocus at the last minute. But really, how hard can it be when it [...]

REPLY TO ALL: You Got Your Facebook In My Game

In this week’s REPLY TO ALL we are going to do something a little bit different. Instead of having 5 different people give their thoughts on the topic, it’s just going to be myself and JDevL. This will be a regular thing we mix in every once in awhile with different people. Feel free to add your own comments below and join in on this week’s topic: This is what Blur and Facebook look like together. Colefacekilla I’m getting tired [...]

It Doesn’t Matter: Blur is a Kart Racer

One of my biggest pet peeves when it come to video game reviews is when the author tries to turn the game into a different game and judges based on that standard. When Ars Technica recently reviewed Blur they wanted the game to be a lot more realistic than the developer, Bizarre Creations, ever intended. They focus on the logic of the Blur universe, its similarities to another recent release, and multiplayer community support. The setting and presentation of the [...]

Meanwhile… What Up, Snoop?

Meanwhile… we’ve actually been playing games. Each week we recap our recent gaming experiences and tell you what we’re looking forward to, so you can use your time more wisely than we have. Finally, we get to fly the doghouse this week. We’re hoping that aerial combat, modern warfare, and powered-up racing will lure some of our friends out from the Wild West, but I don’t like our chances. JDevL Lots of racing for me this week as I’ve had [...]

Meanwhile… We Love Goats

Meanwhile… we’ve actually been playing games. Each week we recap our recent gaming experiences and tell you what we’re looking forward to, so you can use your time more wisely than we have. I am surrounded by cowboys (and one lost spaceman) this week, I dunno what Rockstar puts in their Kool-Aid, but it is doing strange stuff to the locals. JDevL How’s this for a trio? I’ve been doing my best to balance Alan Wake, Super Mario Galaxy (1), [...]

Blur Commercial Tells Mario Kart to Grow Up

I was actually kind of surprised to see Blur attack Mario Kart in this trailer, but it’s pretty funny. I figured Bizarre Creations would go more of the homage route, but let’s face it, the kart formula needed to be punched in the gut. Stick around for the end of the trailer for a pretty good zinger of a tag line. Blur comes out next week (5/25) for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The real question is which racer [...]

The Games of May Attack

So, May happened, and it happened quick. My wallet is not ready for this month. Take a look at all the releases coming out this month, it’s the first big month since the rush of titles that hit us after the new year. The Cursed are here to help you sort through the May madness, but let us know what has the attention of your wallet, your Gamefly account, your sarcastic commentary, or your bargain bin hunting abilities this fall. [...]

Blur Beta is Powered-Up

As of this writing I’ve put in probably a couple hours of racing into Bizarre’s upcoming racing game. I’ll just start here by saying that in that time I think the game is awesome! It’s a fast paced (thankfully, being a racing game), exhilarating and intense, and incredibly fun title. The game demo comprises of an online multiplayer beta with four or five tracks and a number of different game types and unlockables that are earned by gaining “fans” and [...]
