Taking Offense: Monaco Fails at Forcing My Friends to Cooperate

Taking Offense: Monaco Fails at Forcing My Friends to Cooperate

This is just you and me talking, here, but I know we have the same problem. Our friends suck at video games. I, myself, am complete bad ass when I’m solo, but some games just cannot be handled alone. When I heard about the co-op heist game, Monaco, I was immediately nervous about playing it. I have always wanted to take part in a well-planned and surgically executed bank caper, but I knew that it would require intense strategy and [...]

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Rated Review: Standard Setting Cyber-Expansion

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Rated Review: Standard Setting Cyber-Expansion

To say I was excited when I first saw the trailer for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon would be an understatement; blowing a load would be far more accurate. Yet this blown load wasn’t the normal load I’ve been known to blow in regards to the medium of electronic entertainment. This was a load that had been building inside of me since I was a child, screaming to be released but unable to do so despite the best efforts of [...]

God Mode Reflex Review: As Simple as Exploding a Skeleton Warrior

God Mode Reflex Review: As Simple as Exploding a Skeleton Warrior

I have to admit that I probably wouldn’t have picked up God Mode if a.) Justin Lacey didn’t suggest it and b.) it was more than $9.99. That being said, I’m glad that those two conditions contributed to my latest purchase as God Mode is a pretty good example on how to do a budget game right. Whether that’s a compliment or a dig will depend entirely on what sort of gamer you happen to be. We Were Dead, Now We’re Fighting [...]

DuckTales Remastered is at PAX East

DuckTales Remastered is at PAX East

If you like DuckTales and really enjoyed the DuckTales game where you hop around in the guise of Scrooge McDuck, then I have a huge surprise for you (well I don’t, but the people that originally broke the story do). DuckTales Remastered has been teased as part of Capcom’s catalog at Pax EAST. Just watch the teaser trailer as I’ve had way too much to drink today. Hurray…hurray! Sources Joystiq Gamer’s Prey

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is Single Player Co-Op for Your Thumbs

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is Single Player Co-Op for Your Thumbs

Starbreeze has made some of my most memorable and atmospheric first person shooter moments of the last decade (Riddick, The Darkness, Syndicate). It has something a bit different in store for its next game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Brothers is a single player co-op experience where you will be controlling both characters at once. When using a gamepad that means one brother for the left thumbstick and trigger and one brother for the right thumbstick and trigger. Brothers [...]

Zen Studios Brings Star Wars Pinball to Pretty Much Everything Starting Feb 26th

Zen Studios Brings Star Wars Pinball to Pretty Much Everything Starting Feb 26th

Zen Studios broke through in a big way with us last year, even taking home a Grimmy in the process. I had written off digital pinball, but it’s is hard to argue with quality table designs in any form. Next week though, digital pinball is set to get an even wider audience to pay attention. Zen Studios is releasing Star Wars Pinball tables across a variety of platforms. The first pack of Star Wars Pinball tables for The Empire Strikes [...]

Journey Soundtrack is First Grammy Nominated Game Soundtrack

Journey Soundtrack is First Grammy Nominated Game Soundtrack

Grammy award nominees were announced this week, and this marks only the second time that video game music has been involved. Austin Wintory and his soundtrack for Journey are nominated in the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media category. This is the first time ever that a video game soundtrack has been nominated. Journey is up against some award winning competition from big name composers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and Trent Reznor. So while I’m sure it’s [...]

The Walking Dead Review: The Dead Can Feel

The Walking Dead Review: The Dead Can Feel

A game seldom comes along which strikes a chord deeper than just being entertained. The Walking Dead by Telltale Games delivers on a one-of-a-kind experience by reaching into your personal morality and advocates a new level of interactive storytelling. Episodic games are some of the more difficult games to master, and this holds especially true when it comes to the material of The Walking Dead. In order to be successful, The Walking Dead needed to provide a rich experience in which you felt a [...]

Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit Video Reflex Review: That’s Between a Bunny and His Duck

Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit Video Reflex Review: That’s Between a Bunny and His Duck

The crazy French developers at Arkedo Studio made a new game. That game is called Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit. It involves an undead cape-wearing rabbit (who is also the Prince of Hell) trying to recover stolen photos of him masturbating with a rubber ducky. Naturally, this game is a metroidvania-ish side scroller with WarioWare-like boss battles. Visually, HY!WOTDR is marvelous. Controls are also smooth and tight. Is the game fun? We can tell you one thing for sure. [...]

Radio Waves for 10/12/12

Radio Waves for 10/12/12

It’s a big release week for games. Even the people under rocks know that games came out this week and people want them. There’s quite a variety as the releases range from alien-domination sims to 8-bit retro action. Also Pokemon, but maybe that’s just my thing. Until my self-started husky-drawn taco delivery wagon idea becomes reality, I had to pick and choose carefully. At with that, let’s hurry up and do some Radio Waves so I can get back to [...]
